Flavia Durach, PhD, is Associate Professor at the College of Communication and Public Relations, National University for Political Studies and Public Administration, Bucharest; Head of Department, Digital Communication and Emerging Media; coordinator of the MA Digital Communication and Innovation.
Her research interests include the study of media effects, with an emphasis on online disinformation, strategic communication, the role of the digital platforms, and EU attitudes. She is the author/ editor/ contributor in volumes published by Palgrave Macmillan, Springer, IOS Press, Peter Lang, Cambridge Scholars Publishing, and author of numerous scientific articles (including ISI indexing). Additionally, Flavia is involved in science popularization through her position as columnist/analyst/collaborator for a number of national media outlets (online news, TV, and radio).
In 2023-2024 she acted as a rapporteur for the International Observatory for Information and Democracy, which aimed to aggregate and synthesize existing research and offer policymakers a periodic global assessment of the information and communication space and how it impacts democracy. In recent years, she was involved in a number of projects dedicated to analyzing and countering disinformation, financed by international institutions such as GMF, NATO Public Diplomacy Programmes, the European Commission. Since 2019 (annually), Flavia Durach is speaker for the international course Strategic Communication in the Context of Security and Defence, under the auspices of the European Security and Defense College (ESDC).
